PGA – MY DAD’S 2013 MASTERS PREDICTIONS

My Dad is quite possibly the biggest golf fan I know.  He watches a lot of golf on tv, attends many events throughout the year, and is a very good golfer in his own right (despite having picked up the sport in his 50s).

Thus, without further ado, let me introduce the world to my Dad’s predictions:

Tiger Woods

Tiger is back because his life is apparently in a good place now personally since he announced his relationship with Lindsey Vonn to the world.  This took a huge load off his emotional shoulders.

When he is confident, there is no one alive that can beat him at golf.  He received a putting tip from Steve Stricker earlier this year and the rest will be history for all of us to watch. He is such an odds on favorite at the Masters it’s ridiculous.

If the weather is poor than Tiger is not such a favorite.

And, he stated in a recent post tournament interview that he is the strongest he has ever been. He is probably the best “athlete” in the world right now.

Webb Simpson

He is an incredible tactical player and shows fantastic patience which Augusta demands.  He’s a Jack Nicklaus style player that doesn’t take chances.

Simpson has a very accurate driver, is a solid iron player, and a terrific putter. Incidentally, he won the Payne Stewart Award at the Tavistock Cup for the lowest score in relation to par.  And, he was one of only two players to par at Isleworth on a day when the wind was blowing hard and the greens were like bumpy pool tables.

Also, when Ricky Fowler  was interviewed following Tavistock, he discussed the fact that the course and greens were a great prep for the Masters. So, if Webb can control his emotions in the pressure cooker tourney, he will wear a green jacket.

Peter Hanson

The Steady Swede is a threat to win every time he tees it up.

I watch a lot of the European Golf every week and am not surprised that the Euros have dominated so many Ryder Cups and several other tournaments the last several years. They are much better putters across the board. They know how to play in inclement weather.

Just a gut feeling.

NOTABLE

One “Ringer” is Nicolas Colsaerts.  He is another Euro player that is ready to breakthrough on the big stage and an amazing player.

This prediction feels similar to when I announced that Charl Schwartzel would win the Masters in 2010.  People said “who”?  It turns out that I was a year off and he won in 2011.
